Squeaky lines.

My mooring lines squeak like anything. Is there a way of preventing this from happening or is it just down to the rope? If the rope, what’s best to change to to prevent or minimise the noise?

Use multiplait - we had the same issue and a change of ropes solved it completely. As for squeeky fenders, washing up liquid works OK but ball fenders are a permanent cure.

We use fender socks so squeaky fenders not an issue. I’ll look into the multiplait potion thanks.

It gets worse as they get old and if they are really old it might be worth getting new ones.

Washing machine fabric conditioner is also a cure. Fill a bucket with water and fabric conditioner and leave the lines to soak overnight. This lubricates the rope threads.

Only if you want to. The alternative is to use other warps while the process is in place.
