any tips for fixing screeching and squeaking floor boards in the cabin?

I am going to take out the table and take up the floor panels this weekend, make sure they are dry and that there is nothing in the way and have a go a refixing to see if it cures them, but wondered if anyone has any tips to bear in mind?

(They did get very wet with sea water a few weeks ago, so may have warped :()

thanks
Lil

I've tried various things.
Ski wax on the edges and where the boards make contact (or candlewax -or even wax polish?)
Dry film lubricant - same surfaces.
It depends how rough or smooth the edges are to some extent -you could always take a tiny bit off with sandpaper- remembering to seal the raw surface.
Creaky boards are a curse for those attempting a quiet pee at 04:00....
Let us know if you find an ideal solution..

I had the same problem. Lifting the sole boards and applying candle wax or furniture polish to the small plywood pads that separate them worked, but only for a few days. I have now placed a small piece of plastic - cut from a supermarket carrier bag - in the gap between each board and where each board bears on the 'floors'. That has done the trick and juicious trimming after the sole boards are in place has stopped the plastic from showing.

We have tried most of these, the answer is much easier - wear earplugs, this also suppresses snoring/rattling halyards on other boats/noisy neighbours ... you name it :D

Lakeland Plastics sell a tube of silicon wax for helping drawers slide in and out of furniture frames. Or snitch some of the silicon stuff that keen sailors use to lube the luff groove.

I've had good results screwing the sole boards down on to foam draughtproofing strip stuck to the floors.

Before that, I had great results by bedding a particularly squeaky section down on beads of silicone sealant on the floors. However, I haven't been able to lift it since!
