Squall

Sat on the boat in N. Fam tonight... just put on a DVD (Tinker, Taylor, Soldier Spy) all calm..ish (10 - 15knts) at 2020 it started to rain heavily and then we were hit by the Squall. the boat canted over suddenly and checking the anemometer, it had risen from 15 to over 50 (fifty) knots on the gauge almost instantaneously. Incredible really but makes you think, I hadn't seen a forecast for gusts that strong this weekend ....

I'm probably staying at home for only the second weekend since the boat launched as windfinder, etc are showing similar gusts for most of the weekend :ambivalence:

Been down at our ship at Shotley this weekend very breezy to say the least. Mean 30 knots Sarurday night calming down in the early hours before starting to build. Jobs needed doing were fortunately inside as it was tipping down with rain too. Marina deserted and who can blame folks.
