Squadron boats in Cowes this weekend - loads of photos & spectacularly bad video...

Plan was to take my Mum & Dad over to the Folly for lunch, Saturday was a little windy but the plan was in place so off we went, bit bumpy getting over to Cowes and treated to a mass aray of Squadron boats who had come for their Bicentenary celebrations..

The Folly was pretty full & busy

always a sad site, owners of these poor dinghy's obviously MIA after a Saturday night in the folly..

headed back to Hamble after lunch, pictures never capture wave size... but it was quite choppy,

then I took a photo and realised the selector wheel had gone to video, kept going for a bit then I thought I had switched it off... I am not sure even Henry would be able to edit this into anything vaguely watchable, looks like we had a terrible accident, but I can confirm all ok!

Sunday in the sun... what a lovely day & dog rather happier to be staying put!

Great photos Firefly , loved the "action" video . Nice to see a picture of Shemara to show SWMBO as her grandfather was radio operator and her great uncle was skipper when Shemara was owned by the Docker family .

That's an impressive flopper-stopper in picture 3

It's Motor Yacht Shemara, recently underwent a massive refit. Project took about 2 years, iirc. Mainly challenge was the height from floor to ceiling was only 2.1 meters, didn't leave much space overhead for cables / ducting. But she is available for charter for very reasonable figures... http://www.edmiston.com/yacht-charter/shemara-3024/

Yikes!

James,

nice set of images, brings to mind, "how the other half live"

300k a week charter, even divided by the 12 guests, it's still a lot of dosh!

thanks for posting.

Oh indeed David, I bet the owners of the majority of these little ships only dropped in for a night on board or perhaps a day visit to race their classic yachts around the cans, the paid crew would have been the only folks on board for the duration.

The owner of Shemara is what you call a "motivated" owner - he likes his sailing and being on the water in general.

Don't forget 300k does not include tips / extras..sling another 20% just to be sure. Oh and cleared funds before you even step aboard.

Did you get pictures of Leander hitting the yellow special mark"Snowdon" when Prince Phillip was onboard? Apparently the captain is now looking for a job.

This is Leander, hooked up to a Trinity bouy so after its dragging.
