Squadron 56 on ebay

That looks an outstandingly good boat for £100k. In the current market, and with the "wrong" engines (ie the ones that the market just doesn't like as much) it is probably not worth much more than that, esp with 2000 hours. It is a much respected model of boat though, known to be a very good design and well built.

So if you were buying it on normal terms, ie with survey and full T+Cs as regards the deposit and its returnability, I'd shout "go for it". However, if the seller is refusing survey (is he?) I'd be inclined to walk away. Sure, I might take the risk if the thing were half price, but at pretty much the correct price I don't see the logic of taking the risk - I mean what is your upside? Airco problems could be £10k. A new generator leaves little change out of £15k and an engine rebuild could be considerably more

Very nice boat though

Question is, if we wind the clock forward 2 years, will there be many boats of that standard, age and condition for sale @ £100k.

Sq 59

So True, I bet Gludy wished he kept her too. Still this one cannot be 'Drumbeat' as she was fitted with Volvo's, TAMD122P 610s' I think, but don't quote me on it. I can't remember for sure but she sat on offer for ages in Chichester allegedly, because of them.

Could have been worse there are a few available with Detroits' at twice the price! :ambivalence:

Apologies, Bertramdriver. :o :encouragement:

Remember Gludy buying her from the 2nd owner,Even then bit of a know all.
Boat originally called Pop I0 after the owner a Mr Pop he chose the straight 6 Volvos as the Mans were too wide for easy engine room access.
He took the boat down to the Med and back but hardly ever used after that 6 week trip, 2nd owner never went out in boat(shugging pod)

Interestling the following Mr Men owned Fairlines: Mr Tidy T30. Mr Pop Sq 59. Mr Dent T39

Stelican, you are a mine of useless info!

Good bedtime reading, any more info/ observations out there?
You guys are doing a good job of convincing me, just hope I have not upped the interest and hence the price, from my perspective at least...

I'd be surprised if it actually goes for £100k.
If I were to place a bet on the actual sale price, I'd choose £120k, but we will see :)

Hasn't been around for a while; must be busy helping NATS get their blimmin telephone switchboard out of 'night' mode ... :D:D

He doesn't work at Swanwick, but I know a few that did.
Something about "running code that is pretty stable now, but all the hardware is 20+ year old IBM RS/6000 AIX kit that is well past it's use-by date".

Obviously the seller is reacting to inputs from someone around here.
Jfm already went as fas as saying "Come to think of it, I'd bid and buy it", so maybe by the time the auction will end he will explain us that he couldn't resist filling the gap between the 28' Capelli and M2...

Not a chance MapisM. The fleet is big enough... I've got non stop mods and management going on with M2 and don't need any more!

Jimmy I guess he has posted that just to reduce the volume of emails he is receiving. You've got to admire his candour too.

Pricewise it seems keen but is perhaps not too far from going rate for that boat, if you compare with this 3 years newer boat at £169khttp://www.boatshop24.co.uk/advert/fairline-squadron-59-unknown/40926607

Also here is Drumbeat for sale again, in N Wales, at a bit more money, £205k

I am surprised that anyone would buy something of that sort of value from eBay sight unseen through. The recent addition of the survey summary has identified c. £20k of repairs that were identified then, reading between the lines maintenance on the boat has been neglected recently.

I have added myself as a watcher to this item just to see for how much she goes for ;-)

Strange it's for sale in N Wales, as it's currently in Berthon

Cant remember the boat name. Dont remember seeing Drumbeat on her.(Edit just remembered "Momentus")

She is currently in the dock at Port Dinorwic. More usually she is based on a floating dry dock system outside a waterfront property near Nelsons Column as shown in the pictures on the Menai Straits. The owners Brother has a similar sized cat design of Mobo alongside a similar waterfront property nearer Caernarfon.
