I have noticed that in a number of "threads" there creeps in an argumentative element. The incidence of this seems to be on the increase.

In the main when people post they are seeking help/guidance from their peers. Between us we must have an extensive pool of experience. If individuals wish to "put down" other people by aggressive counter comments I would suggest that they count to 100 and then be polite in their counter comments. Argumentative posts do not help the OP. It ends up as a "cat/dog fight" not helpful! Come on people let peace break out.

What a load of balls! You need to go back into the archives - good "search" items would be "anchor", "Bavaria keel", "blue ensign" - and you will see that aggressive argument is not a recent phenomena. What seems to be missing now is humour.

Some threads remind me of the arguments we got from the back seat of the car.
"stop it"
" I didn't do anything"
"yes you did"
"didn't"
"anyway, you're stupid"
etc

'Not a recent phenomena" ? What kind of phrase is that? One with a singular article and a plural noun, that's what. I am shocked at the poor standard of Greek grammar here.

I could invoke the Solent colregs defence of it doesn't matter what is written as long as you can vaguely understand what I meant. However, I plead guilty (unlike the twat who pleaded "not guilty" to not avoiding a big ship - the evidence being almost as damning) but I had originally written "arguments are" then singularised it but carelessly left the plural "phenomena" - mea culpa.

Is "refelection" what young boys do when playing football to designate the worst player as referee?

I think it's all good fun and not to be taken seriously. This forum is much the same as others, in that people get bitchy / argumentative with each other, but on other threads they are all friendly like.

Compared to some forums, particularly US based, I think the vast majority of postings here are quite well mannered. What's the problem?
How I agree. I occasionally seek enlightenment on guitar playing forums - most of the contributions on there are of the 'Hey Dude your tab sucks' variety and worse. In my opinion, PBO contributors are pretty polite even if we disagree.
