Just crawled under the sink for half an hour just to find out the water still has some particles floating in it from the tank. I tested it from the sink in the heads, which doesn't have the filter, and compared it in two clear glasses and I see 0 difference. Waste of money and effort really.

how long has the filter been fitted? if its new, this type of filter needs a good flush before it will pass clear water. or at least this is my experience of other brands.

I tested it for an hour or so. Initially I could see the charcoal coming out of it but now it's "clear" but the water is not perfectly clean and has the same impurities as the unfiltered water from the sink in the bathroom. It looks like it hasn't been through a filter, but I know it is. I connected it myself. Right direction of flow, jubilee clips, only one tap in the galley anyway, and when I pump water I can feel the resistance from the filter.

The water is not dirty per se, as the tank is just not actually perfectly clean, but it's the freshwater from the tap from the marina, which is drinkable and clean.
The impurities are just tiny, microscopical contaminations of the water. You can hardly see it, but it gives me the ick so I only drink bottled water aboard.

The filter was supposed to solve that problem and it didn't. Will try a different brand at some point, but not happy with this one.

Could the particles be shedding from the insides of the supply hoses twixt filter & taps? I have had this situation in the past, along with bad tasting water.
Now, every spring I add a little bleach to a small amount of water in the bottom of the tank, allow it to flow through to each tap & then let it stay there overnight before flushing everything out.
I suppose really that I should replace the hoses as they’re original, forty plus years old.

I always do this before fitting the new season’s filter.

MAYBE replace them? :D :D

But yeah, that is actually a good point. I didn't even consider it could be the tap. The hose after the filter is new though.
