Spring-wound starter

I am trying to trace the manufacturer of a spring starter, wound manually by a rope-pull, that was advertised in the YM New Gear column within the last two or three years. Last year I had two incidents of my Vetus-Deutz DT 4.29 starting by itself while at sea. The second time the starter stayed engaged, and burned out by the time it was discovered. This was later traced to bilgewater splashing on the starter solenoid logic relay, which is positioned on the engine mounting and thus down near the bilge. The relay is not waterproof. I will be moving the logic relay to a higher position. But I would also like to have a mechanical back-up in case of further trouble. Does anyone know who sells these devices, which I think may also be known as impulse starters?

I remember these, composite construction aswell, I was thinking about carrying one as a spare, when atlantic bound, just in case, so I would be interested myself in the whereabouts of them. I think they were expensive though.

The firm that makes them is just outside London I think. I can't recall teh name. I was looking for a replacement a while ago. They are quite pricey. A brand new one man enough to spin my Lister RH4W was about £600 as I recall. I found them on the net after a long trawl throuigh starter motor companies. Sorry I can't help more.
