Spring of Tarrent

What has not been explored is why you want to register it in Portugal.

On the question of VAT. If the boat was in Portugal on 31/12/2020 then it is considered EU VAT paid - although you may have difficulty in convincing a keen local office this is the case. Suspect that the registration authorities will also require details of the boat like an HIN number and the RCD category plus CE certification of the engine which simply do not exist.

Most Portuguese would like their boats to be registered elsewhere :)

On the EU VAT point, boats there on 31/12 keep their status, whatever that happens to be (VAT paid or unpaid) but, they will still want proof the boat was VAT paid and in free movement on 31/12. They particularly like to see a T2L but too late now to obtain one.

Assuming you have DTP and access a dot matrix printer, shouldn't be too hard to produce a suitably aged invoice but, remember it's easy to check whether a VAT number is genuine or not..

Bob Fisher competed in the Scottish Series in her in about 1988, it was one of the years that we went over to Gourock for the feeder and I recall exchanging some banter as we passed Cloch lighthouse. I do not think he owned her, fairly sure he was sponsored perhaps by MG so suspect VAT may have been delayed. I will have a hunt through our racing archive and see if the list of entries reveals the owner.
Thank you Quandary
I am even having trouble finding where MG Yachts were based or who ran them , I believe Jaguar boats moulded the first ones but there doesn't seem to be an address for them either .
I even tried to see what a MG bill
of sale looks like .
I am not adverse to making one up , because the VAT has been paid , its just the pedantic Portuguese must see it in black and white . Its so frustrating !!

Thank you unfortunately frustration lead to forgery in this instance. But then as you quite rightly point out the VAT has been paid so I am not trying gain financialy, just placating the powers that be . A friend tried to sell his boat here and all the potential Portugese buyers wanted a VAT receipt .
I may want to sell in the future too. Thank you once again.
Ps. You don't happen to know MG yachts VAT number do you ?

Was where the built the boats before they moved south
That's where they originally built the MGC27, the Castro 26 1/4 tonner and the Humphries HS30, RS34 and 38. They moved the office down to Hamble in '84/'85, the 27 moulds to Northshore and from there the 25 and 335 were conceived, the 335 built by Northshore, the Spring by Jaguar on Canvey Island. That continued until the business was sold (while making a profit, first time in UK yachtbuilding history I think) to Northshore in '88.
