We currently have the boat up for sale and want to give her a good cleaning. To date, she usually just gets a good hard freshwater scrub, but now she needs to da$$le! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What’s a good product to use and best method of getting her shiny again? (Top sides and hull)

Also, a previous banker in the adjacent berth installed a new engine in his “classic” boat and had left small steel fillings all down the side of our boat. I have managed to get most of it off, but inside the diamond non slip deck surface is proving impossible. Any miracle cures for this?
 
I found that "rust remover", which is basically dilute oxalic acid, works wonders for getting rid of rust stains. It's also not bad at bleaching yellowed paint (and gelcoat) which can then be polished. I believe "Astonish" oven cleaner contains the same components.
 
I can agree with `evadne` that the astonish range of products do work. On my boat they removed a lot of the more obstinate marks. Used carefully the oven cleaner removed a load of light rust marks from the forward area of deck and it also performed well on the stubborn marks down the sides of the hull. Followed up with a good `proper` polish and the result collected several favourable comments and requests of `how did we do it?`
