Sprayhood, webbing straps, material for

My sprayhood is tensioned using 40mm webbing straps. These need renewing.

PointNorth offer 40mm webbing but only in polypropylene, not polyester.

Would polypropylene be suitable for this purpose?

I think polypropylene would be fine, but Kayospruce have lots of polyester webbing, if that's what you want.

Most polyprop seems to be prone to uv damage. I would suggest using uv proof polyester.

After a lot of searching on the internet, I can't find a source of 38mm (not 40mm as I said in my original post) blue polyester webbing.

Acrylic webbing of the right width and colour is available. Would that do instead of polyester?

Don't use the Polypropylene in UV exposed areas. I used it misktakenly on a Spray hood and it disintegrated over 2 years, I had to replace it with Polyester.

Seeing as the “canvas” the hood is made of is likely to be acrylic canvas, the I’d say that acrylic webbing would be fine.

That is a convincing argument! I will use acrylic webbing.
