Hi all,

Now we have the four legged friend/fiend, I need to get the cockpit enclosure that I've been promising myself sorted. The sprayhood also needs replacement.

The boat's in Chi marina, can anyone recommend a South coast supplier who'll be able to do the job?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Cheers,
Pete

C and J did a very good job for us with both replacement sprayhood abd cockpit tent, their after sales has been v good as well. They're based in Chichester

I think the best spray hood I have seen was made by C&J, but when they first started up and were keenly priced, I think. I believe they may be a tad on the pricey side now.

COVERCARE based in Thornham Marina may be worth considering.

Sprayhood/cockpit enclosure

+1 for C & J. Although ours came with the boat the cockpit enclosure is excellent. It attaches easily to the sprayhood and the s/s poles are colour coded so no messing about trying to decide what goes where.

If you're in Chi Marina C&J have a 10% discount offer for members of Chichester Marina Berth Holders Association

I have had excellent results on 2 boats from Tecsew in Gosport. Not the cheapest but I found John Bland to be so helpful, I would buy from them without shopping around.

Thanks for the heads up re the 10% discount from C&J, Fireball.

Nick, I did contact TecSeq as well and get the impression that TecSew do indeed produce a good product, but is that product worth £600 more than my middle quote???

I called their office and spoke to someone (not John) to ask (as I do believe you get what you pay for) why their product is so much more expensive than others, i.e. - convince me. I ended up more confused than when I started the call and they failed entirely to sell me on the additional costs.

Another vote for Tecsew in Gosport, I did not think they were expensive, quite reasonable in my opinion. I have recommended them to a few other owners who have all had nothing but good things to report back on everything from spray hoods, a cockpit enclosure to simple dodgers.

No connection other than I like to promote good local companies that provide an excellent service.

Hi Pete

I am John Bland from Tecsew.

I should be in the office all day tomorrow and if you would like, may I suggest you call and ask to speak to me directly. Hopefully i and answer any questions and explain pricing.

What I would say is that if we dont have a standard product that suits we would design your product with our 3d cad service, something which many customers have had expierience with over the last 2 years.

This would give you full input into the design with no surprises. The whole product including frames is drawn up in cad and a frame is not bent umtill the design is approved.

Please follow this link for examples of some of the completed projects http://www.tecsew.com/gallery/3d-cad-showcase

With regards to other differences.

Nearly all products would be quoted with 22 mm 316 stainless frames with cast stainless frame fittings, not 18mm and not the nylon/stainless fittings.

All frame fittings quick release, if the design allows this.

Adjustable terminal frame fittings which allow for the frame to be extended to take up stretch in the fabric.

Zipped pockets, double stitched using ykk zips.

We also stock and use beige, red, burgundy, royal blue, mid grey and I believe green zips.
Red sprayhood...red zips, beige sprayhood...beige zips.

Reinforcing pulling band to back of Sprayhood as standard.

Our grab bars if ordered are welded and not bolted. The bolted versions are usually screwed through the canvas making removal of the canvas extremely time consuming.

Sunbrella plus canvas as standard.

Stowage valise for cockpit enclosure included.

Cockpit enclosure frame legs split from top hoops for stowage.

We also use a 20 metric uv stabilised anti-wick thread on nearly all of the most common colours, the lower the no, the stronger the thread. This is to address the age old problem of restitching.
Its not so much the cost of the thread as the cost of the machines that will take the thread.

Prices quoted will also include fitting between Lymington and Chichester, although we have supplied many customers around the UK, Europe and much furher afield on a self fit basis.

There are other points as well but I hope this goes some way towards explaing what we do that is different. The cad design being the biggest benefit.

These are standard parts of the spec not optional extras.

Best regards

John Bland
