We have a 25 foot Vertue built in the sixties, we are based in med france and just wondered if any body had any plans for sprayhoods , we are quite happy to do it ourselves , with a bit of trial and error , maybee there is a vertue out there who allready has one and can help , we have been quoted loadsa money to have one made from £ 900 to £ 1400 and we dont have that kind of budget ,, so can anybody help please

£1400 for a simple two bar hood is taking the mik. I assume you don't have an existing hood or want to change the design. Try contacting (i'm sure you have) all the UK based lofts which deal in canvas work and see if they have either a stock pattern, or know of a recent customer who had hood made for a Virtue. I really mean try the smaller local lofts - there aren't many around but all have expertise in the area. They may also know someone with a virtue nearby who would be willing to let their boat be used to take measurements from. (Yes, I know its bad grammar). It isn't too difficult to make your own measurements, but you need to have the confidence to do it.

BTW, just googled for Vertues, and from the images I saw, I think you may also have to raise the height of the boom and the gooseneck up the mast a bit to get enough usable headroom under the hood. Remember (and many don't) that you ave to be able to walk through under the hood, not crawl.
