My Hurley 22's got the old style sliding hatch with no cover and a sprayhood bodged on from another boat. It fits... ish... and certainly keeps the worst of the weather off despite being a bit knackered but I'm not a fan of the two blocks of wood that hold the bolt-rope at the bottom. They just trap muck and aren't fixed to the cabin roof all that well.

It's not at the top of my priorities but I am contemplating what to do with it. How do people usually handle fitting one with a sliding hatch below? I'm not fussed about getting a perfect seal at the bottom as it's just to keep the worst off. I'm wondering about a bit of stainless bar bent to the shape of the hatch and bolted down either side to give something to fix to? In the fullness of time I'll probably get a fabric part made up which would fit a little better.

Instead of a bolt rope ours has a length of bungee cord tensioned so that when the hatch is closed it holds the hood down to the deck and when the hatch is pushed open it rides up over it. The bungee has at each end a round toggle that is held in place by a hook screwed into the cabin roof at each end.

Sorry don't have pictures.

My H22 has the old style hatch. There is a bit of fabric that goes forward over the hatch which is secured with 2 bungees. As the hatch goes forward the bungees stretch. The bits to the side of the hatch are clipped on with press stud / spike things. There is no wood or bolt rope.

Can't find a photo, but I built a sort of 'bridge' in fibreglass which spans right across the coach roof including the hatch and is bolted down. It's curved so as to follow the shape of the sprayhood - also second hand from a totally different boat as is yours - the bottom of which attaches with s/s press-studs. Lot of work (which I enjoy, before someone says its not worth the hassle) getting the shape, but well worth it.

Mines's the same. I was just trying to source a replacement because the original has snapped, but I didn't know what it was called. Cheers!
