Congratulations from me too SD. She looks a very fine ship. I've always liked that model of boat. Hope you have some great cruises in 2012. If you wake up one day and decide that a machine like that belongs in the Med give us a shout and we will help you get a berth in South of France. You know it makes sense :-)

Nice engines those QSB5.9 Diamond's !! Initially I thought them very high output for the volume, but they have proved themself as very reliable I believe. Got a friend who have 5.9's and only problem he has had is the raw water pump, which had a broken shaft and needed replacement ...

Alf,

Sherwood 17XX Series raw water pumps have a colourful history. Used by CAT, Cummins and Deere, they do not hold a candle against older Jabsco stuff, or for that matter Johnson pumps used by Volvo.

QSB uses a high mounted pump self adjusting set up and the 17XX shaft failure appears to have been eliminated, however thay can still leak.

The QSB has been a real star, the original top rated 425 proved so reliable and durable that it was allowed to be sold as a commercial rating and the QSB 480 has proved to be well on top of the job. Had some QSB's running at 700 hp in a race boat, worked fine at this power level, however they go bang when you try to squeeze 750 hp out of them.

As Daka pointed out a while back QSB grows up to 6.7 at Tier III next year and top rating will be 550 hp.

You don't need to get out your knife and fork out, your car is safe !
Great engines no smoke, burnt 9-10 GPH per engine @ 16 ktns all the way in some big seas- result.
Thanks again for your assistance, look foreword to meeting up when your down this way.

made up for you Roy, will be down Fareham on a bit of business on the 9th Jan so will pop in to say hello and have a look at her if convenient for you, time permitting that is, going straight over to Truro for a meeting there the following day so may not have the time.. earning my pennies in this new job but having fun...
