When walking down the dock last night I spotted this and the colour made me take closer look. Turned out to be a Vikal which is not something I had come across before, turns out they
Are superyacht tenders.

Looking at the forward seats - if it has any oomph I'd have thought the helmsman and their sidekick would be in danger of ending up in their passenger's laps.

Same as an inflatable with a 2hp tiller, it's a tender. It's not designed to be a performance boat, nor a liveabord. It's job is to ship people to shore, and turn some heads at the restaurant on arrival. I'm sure some fancy stern lighting in those cavity's will add to the effect, so I think it meets the brief on that front. I doubt it's the only tender on board either.

Agreed it's a somewhat strange stern, but so is the latest LR Discovery and that seems to be selling.

To me it has the flair of a pre 1920's coach build with a very modern take. For what is is I kind of like it.

Agree with the tone of ^^^ I need to see the mothership ,or its designers / manufacturers intended motherships if this is a one off orphan that’s been cuckooed out , and the rest of the garage contents before commenting .
Then I can comment wearing the right hat so to speak .

It'll turn heads alright, mainly from people wondering if it's been hit with an ugly stick.

Porto, I can't see how you can describe it as anything other than ghastly.

Well tbh, popular modern boats look like they were modelled off a steam iron and that imo looks ghastly so each to their own. In anything other than a "gentleman's" tender I'd say fail but here I think it's rather fitting in a retro way. There is a sort of sheik styling that says I dont give a toss what you plebs think. Fabulous :encouragement:

It turned DustyWing's head enough for him to research the brand and post publicly about it. To me, that's a win for the designer and the marketing department. Regardless of what anyone's opinion is it's got people talking.

The world would be a boring place if everyone liked and owned the same things. Luckily for those offended by the design, as a tender it will spend a large percentage of it's life locked away.

All industrial designers are using one of a very limited number of CAD packages with a predefined set 3D surfacing tools. Its evident in this design.

Its why all modern cars have such similarity.

that would explain the 'drag and drop' look of many of the current production ranges.
