I recently came across a shower tap for swim platform installation that is totally new to me.
Below are the only pics I could find of it (the small square shows the thing when retracted).
Now, aside from the fact that it looks nicer than my plastic one, it looks like the mixing function is somehow incorporated in the handle, because the flex hose appears to contain two tubes.
First world problem of course, but a nice feature anyway.
Hence the question: does anyone know who build this stuff, and where it can be sourced?
Btw, the boatbuilder is a very small one (AQA Yacht), so it's very unlikely that they they had such part custom built for them...

whale have a similar system P.
bought it and installed in the transom of MiToS, works ok, you twist and start with cold and twist more and you mix them. That's the theory as I don't have hot water onboard yet, so only have one pipe connected :D

busy trying to finish something right now so cannot be bothered to search online, should be easy enough to find.
Mind this one looks better than mine!

Indeed, many thanks, here it is.
And while I agree with you that the one in my pic looks nicer (a tad smaller probably, and metal rather than plastic), it was mostly the functionality that I was interested in.
I checked out the installation guide from Whale website, and with a bit of luck it should fit well in the same place where the old one is!
Goes straight to the "nice to have" list for winter jobs! :encouragement:

P, treat yourself to a trip to Mets, take the photo, sonebody will know it. (And you'll probably bump into Bart as well, it's local for him)
It's always a pleasure to bump into B, but I'd rather wait for the next opportunity that we will surely have in Cagliari.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but it's been a while since I consider a treat for myself AVOIDING rather than attending boat shows...
And if nothing else, food and wines are bound to be much better in Sardinia than in NL!

Mapis, the whale plastic one is perhaps nicer. The one in your pic has h/c separate pipes in a mesh sleeve. The whale one has a single plastic pipe circular section, divided into 2 pipes internally, I think as semi circles. I have the whale.

The one in your picture is Italian - model DO2017 made by elkadesign.it. Click collections/pop up. Very nice head; it’s only the pipe I dislike. They do however make what I think is the best transom shower on the planet and I have it on "jobs list" for a while as retrofit item. I’ll definitely order on next boat. It has a stand, and plugs into a deck socket that supplies the h/c water. Click on “shower system” on their EN website and see “70_in_easy” combined with 7080GA_in.

Doh, it's an amazingly small world indeed! Do you believe that I have their s/steel shower heads built into the bathroom roofs, at home?
Many thanks for the pointer, I don't think it would have ever popped to my mind to check them out also for boat stuff!
Anyhow, if the build quality of the above thingie is half as good as their home products, it's going to outlive me regardless of the pipes arrangement.
I do see your point, mind. But I'm confident that also that pipe must be durable and OK to handle, considering the producer.

I also had a look at the removable stand that you mention. Really beautiful, it wouldn't be out of place in a modern art museum.
Trouble is, while I might afford its probably outrageous cost, I'd still struggle with the additional 5 million or so required for a matching yacht...
What I was thinking to do together with the shower tap replacement is a poor man version of that stand, i.e. a support for attaching it to the f/b overhang, allowing to shower without the need to hold the tap with one hand.
I guess it might sound ugly, but I already saw this retrofitted to a Canados 58, and it did work well.
Takes seconds to attach/detach the tap, and when not in use only its small support remains visible, rather unobtrusively.

P, I'll be onboard from tomorrow morning until tuesday after lunch
@ jfm, what a nice find, for years its on my todo list to make a removeable shower pole on the platform, but didn't got at it yet,
thanks for sharing

J, if I change that and money's no object I'd go for the mesh sleeve one as on mine after 3 summers of relatively light use the white pipe is starting to discolour :ambivalence:
Is yours still nice and white???
