hi again.
anyone know where , in uk , i can get a reasonably priced set of ''fids''? want to learn how to splice multiplait ropes.
seen a set of about 4 little hollow fids . cost ? £47.50 !!! help !
 
I think you may be asking in the wrong place my lovely? 'tis all tarred hemp, sizal and manilla down in 'ere! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Do you really need fids for splicing multiplait?
I had a set of fids for splicing braided line (ie the type with a core and an outer sheath), but I would have thought that splicing multiplait (is this the 8 strand stuff?) would be relatively easy to do by hand.
But I have never done it, and the only references I have come across are re splicing it directly on to a chain.
