splicing multiplait

hi again.
anyone know where , in uk , i can get a reasonably priced set of ''fids''? want to learn how to splice multiplait ropes.
seen a set of about 4 little hollow fids . cost ? £47.50 !!! help !

There is another, cheaper design but I've no experience of it.

Just follow the included instructions to the letter, and after a couple of splices it becomes quite easy

Do you really need fids for splicing multiplait?
I had a set of fids for splicing braided line (ie the type with a core and an outer sheath), but I would have thought that splicing multiplait (is this the 8 strand stuff?) would be relatively easy to do by hand.
But I have never done it, and the only references I have come across are re splicing it directly on to a chain.

I've gone loopy (again). The fids I suggested aren't any use on Multiplait - they're for braided.
