On my little boat with many short voyages I use sheets that are just straight bits of rope. it becomes random just which end goes to clew and exactly where the bowline on the clew ends up. ie long wasted tail or short. The value of this is that points where wear occurs is varied along the line so resulting in longer life for sheets. I have worn out a few over the years. ol'will
