I'm sure that I've seen articles on splicing braided rope and I can't recall where but I'm confident that someone will point me in the right direction.

Those pressed Selma ones do the job, but they're not ideal for several reasons. I keep meaning to get my hands on a set of the tubular kind used in the video, but they don't seem to be widely available on this side of the Atlantic.

I have a set of the Samson fids.. I'm sure they were for you but we never got to sorting them out last time we met..![]()
Back to the original poster though..
Note that some braid ropes are braid on braid.. and some are a braided outer on a straight core..
The splice is a little different for each.. so don't try and follow the braid on braid instructions if you have the other type of rope.
