My spinnaker pole is a little short, perhaps by 20cm or so.

It looks to have a join about a quarter of the way from one end, I can see the rivets

Would it be easy to put a longer midsection in and extend the pole?

Its an old aluminum pole with tapers at each end before the end fittings.

Is there a supplier of the right tyoe of aluminium tube?

Yes it is possible. Inserting internal extrusions and riveting the overlap is common way of joining sections e.g. mast and boom repairs. Hence, using a similar method to extend can work. It will need a bit of thought. For example, you could use a middle section to extend and then an internal sleeve to rivet it all together.

My mast is made this way, in two sections.

The pole seems to be made that way. I could drill out the rivets and disassemble it to see whats inside.

Would any aluminium tube of correct diameter and thickness do? Or is there a specific type/grade that's specialised for marine?

I guess it would do, can’t see it being any different. CiT the insert to keep water out and reduce risk of corrosion.
