evening all. towed my floater to mercury on the hamble for a last blast before hibination. took chance to change the kad 32 oil while nice n hot n thin. oil filter is positioned to make sure when it is spun off the black stuff misses the presicion placed rags n hand towels n heads straight under the lump!!!!! question to my betters, will the oil do any harm to the fiberglass or other things under the engine or just make a mess to be attended to when the hyperthermia wheres off.??? thanks in advance.

hello s28. your dead wright there. the trouble is i can,t get to rectify the situation till my next day off...... monday!!........ "GOD I HATE THIS WORK LARK"!!!!

Doubt it will do the glassfibre much harm my bilge has seen a couple of decades of a delightful toxic mix of engine oil/ATF(in leg motors)/hydraulic oil (steering and trim tabs)/salt and fresh water/gunk/diesel sometimes even all at the same time.
Just occasionally it gets cleaned properly and more frequently a lick and a promise with nice hot soapy water when it comes up nearly as new.

Two plastic bags, one inside the other normally does the job.

Also, once you've spun the old filter off, attach the plastic disc cover thingy from the new filter to the old one, to stop the rest of the old oil going everywhere.
