Spending on "new" boats

As People do not hire old Ford Cortinas - they want new good cars likewise with boats and Hamble Point Yacht Charters like their boats to be high spec.

With current way the IR treat the income and costs there is no way you can make money now and only a fool would start. I forecast a shortage of charter boats in the UK soon.

A lot. In the case of my current boat about 10% of the initial cost in the first three months.
For my previous boat I spent 25% of the initial cost in two years (which includes ordinary maintenance like anti-fouling). But when I sold her I got back everything I spent, including the marina fees since the purchase and a little over. Practically I owned a boat and sailed her two years free. It is unlikely that I will be as lucky this time.
