Forumites may be interested to learn that the Ipswich Harbour Master has received serious complaints from various Marina’s and river users concerning the 43 ft long motor boat R******* using the river Orwell with excessive speed, abuse on VHF radio, running aground and allegedly abusing alcohol when in control of the boat.

The Harbour Master does not tolerate this type of behaviour and following thorough investigation has banned this boat from using Ipswich Haven Marina and using Ipswich lock.

From what i heard, sounds like a good plan. All the marinas that complained should ban it too. With no marinas to get into, they'll have to pi55 off back to Essex, which is where i heard they originate from.

The same memo stated that the Harbour Master has requested that all Marina’s act together in denying this boat access

The boat name quoted was showing up on the MARS database when I checked, I don't know if that is because it does not have a Ship's licence or the name is not quite correct.

So far one thing I have always tried to live by.. 'Don't piss off the Harbour Master...He/She has more toys and could make playing with your toys very difficult.'

Our berthmaster told me this afternoon that all clubs and marinas have been e-mailed by Ipswich HM requesting that this vessel is not offered a berth on the river.

I'm no fan of 'Witch Hunts' but if the owner is guilty of continual and repeated being a kn*b then marinas and YC's all clubbing together on a united front may set a good example to those who treat the river like their own private playground.
