Speeding Boat An apology from the Owner

Glad the young lad apologised and I agree, get him on the forum and maybe a few more young people like him.

I think the problem of speeding is caused mainly by the lack of knowledge as to the damage the boats wake does both to other users and the river bank. I also think a lot of new comers and people who hire boats think it's just like the road and will have a burn if they think no one is looking.

There is no fun being young and going at 5mph !!!!! We need to educate them.

It certainly has been a lively topic though......maybe someone could find a boat without a license for next weeks public hanging /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Don't get me started on unlicensed boats and illegal mooring...

Dont worry I feel the same in fact i shall be looking at plenty of illegally moored boats on my run tonight along the towpath dodging the dogship and rubbish...

Could not resit the last one sorry!

I've removed the videos at the request of the boat owner. I think it's had enough air play now.

Fair enough , i think we kicked his ass good for the ducks !

Fair dues that he actually made an effort to apologise for his actions, and quite a mature and sincere apology as well. He obviously enjoys being on the river as well and has also been affected by common issues that others have faced, such as vandalism and theft. As firefly says, a bit of a withch hunt and lets move on. Summer is almost here and lets get out there and enjoy the weather and our boats and stop moaning about everything, time we had some more positive posts on here! Me, getting excited about the bank holiday weekend, hopefully will get to Cookham, anybody knows if there is a supermarket there, might have to stock up with bear necessities such as ice for my bloody mary's and scotch and coke?! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

There is a supermarket about 15 mins walk. when you hit the high street turn right its opposite the station. might be worth taking a decent bag or trolley the last time we were at cookham and went to restock the bar the plastic shopping bags cut off the circulation to me fingers. yes they also sell ice.

Chill

Yay, excellent! I'll take my granny wheeler along, thanks for the tip. I take it that it's a Budgens or something like that? Hopefully catch you Sunday Inlandnewbie, will have the beers and wine nicely chilled, and back up red as well, not to mention SWMBO's 'special' elixirs! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif How far is Pangbourne, I seem to remember a scruufy old pub on the river there, but that was about 3 years ago or so, what's that like nowadays?

It was near a marina which was on the opposite side I think, not sure if that is The Swan? Maybe it's not even Pangbourne, I just remember it was a wee bit past Cookham... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Now a member of the forum I am the owner of the boat and would like to again apologise for the videos and speeding , I hope I can become a valued member of the forums .
Many Thanks

You are very welcome. I must say, I admire your bravery.

Stick around, there is lots to learn and laughs to be had.

Watch out for the old codgers in their Brooms, always moaning about going aground. And that posh chap Brayman in his dutch steel cruiser.

Do not worry though... you are not bottom of the pecking order so long as you dont buy a Narrowboat! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If you moor upstream of Cookham Reach Sailing Club - towards the big tree on the corner - it's a walk across the meadow to the car park, turn right, about half a mile up through the Pound.
