The temp part of the speed and temperature sensor is broken.

The gps provides the speed so the only bit i like to know is temp!

I forgot to check the model before i left the boat.

It is a 2004 and has Raymarine kit that other than the plotters is original.

Does anyone know the likely model of the transducer please?

An associated question ... the ST60 only allows the paddle wheel speed to be displayed not the GPS speed. I spent time with the manual and online searching for a way to display the GPS speed. Does anyone know a way ( can you for example update the firmware?)

No idea about the model J, but I've also got 2004 Raymarine stuff on the DP and will be back onboard in a few days, so I can check it for you, if you can't find out earlier.
But actually, in your boots I wouldn't bother replacing the x-ducer for temp alone (and neither for the paddlewheel, btw), if it still works well as a sounder.
Imho, an IR temp gun is an essential bit of kit onboard, for checking temperatures of all sort of parts inside the e/r, and that is VERY accurate also when pointed to the water.
Not to mention that you can probably buy a dozen of them for the price of a new x-ducer... :)

Ref. SOG on the ST60, I was wondering the same, till I found this webpage, according to which the "non-plus" ST60 reads the SOG for calibration purposes only, while in the ST60+ you can also display SOG instead of STW. Bit of a shame really, 'cause in the Med STW is as useful as a chocolate teapot...
You can always check SOG on the plotter of course, which is the reason why I didn't investigate further (i.e. firmware upgrades, if any).
But if someone is aware of a way to upgrade the ST60 to this "plus-only" functionality, I'm also all ears! :encouragement:

There is a resistor in the sensing head that has gone. Your only fix is a new head. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Ours tells me the water temp is -6c in August in Beaulieu. It might have an issue...

Or replace the resistor?
Have a Meile hob where the Meile engineer said due to a component failure new PVB board required at £924 + vat.

Local computer PCB repairer sources and replaced component for £55 + vat
