Just put the log in to replace the blank which had been in since March. Had a problem getting the log to seal properly but managed after a fashion. This got me to study the o-rings carefully and read the instruction leaflet (I realise this is a sign of weakness!) I discovered that you can buy a replacement o-ring kit which contains 4 rings, 2 for the log and 2 for the blank (1 each at top and bottom). When I looked carefully at the blank it had no o-ring at the bottom! It had sealed perfectly however. I mentioned this to someone a nd they said the blank only has o rings at the top. Surely, this makes no sense?

As my Geography teacher was wont to say "A dearth of detail, boy!"

What make/model? Usually blanking plugs are a mimic of the paddle wheel so as to seal onto the same areas, so I expect to see the same number of seals in the same place. Did you read the bit about putting a smear of silicon grease on the seals?

This bit of the team thinks that someone in the past has taken one of the 'O' rings off the blank to use on the log.....

Yes, sorry about lack of detail. I'm not on the boat at present. will be tomorrow so will post full details. However, Misterg may have put his finger on it! As for silicone grease my instructions "or petroleum jelly" AKA Vaseline.
