Spectacular Boaty Stupidity Video...

Saw the same thing in Union Island last year except the dum clutz managed to stay holding on to the side of the dinghy until a very brave boat boy managed to jump on board and stop the engine. There was also a horrible one in Antigua a few months earlier where the prop went over the guys face.
Interesting that when I have chartered I have never been given a kill cord (Sunsail), wouldn't go anywhere without one now.
 
Seen it too many times now, and when they (the lucky ones) are pulled out and saved they always have some excuse as to why it was not their fault they fell out and why they will continue to do the same thing again.

Having just had to buy a new kill cord I discovered http://www.powerboat-training.co.uk/articles/articles-killcords.htm that the cheap "yamaha comapatable" cords cost £5 whereas the one from Yamaha costs £15. The reason for the difference is that the Yamaha cord is red plastic around a tough string. The cheap ones are just plastic and apparently break easily. Therefore it is possible that he used a kill cord but it snapped in half instead of coming away from the engine. In future I would recommend forumites only use kill cords from a trusted manufacturer

my father also saw a inflatable with the painter in the water and the rope got caught around the prop and the inflatable folded up on its self!!
