The foam bedding, cushions etc on my boat stink! They have an overpowering 'musty' smell. I brought them home, removed and washed the covers and the foam itself has been in a cupboard for weeks. When I open the cupboard I am still felled by the pong and the car will never smell the same!

Foam is very readily available here in Nairobi, cut to any shape. However, it is mostly really horrible stuff that turns to evil powder after a while and is horribly sweaty. If I go to a local foam specialist, what should I ask for ? I imagine that pretty much anything is available, provided I am careful and specify exactly what I want.

Thanks

The type of foam really depends on what you want for the bed. My preference is for a composite with 2 inches of memory foam at the top, and then a high quality high density foam of 4 inches. This should be on top of a crushed mesh for ventilation under the mattress.

Alternatively an IKEA mattress which is then cut to shape is the cheapest option.
