I found chmp l82yc in the engine but the manual says ul18v or NGK buhx should be fitted it seems to go ok but I'm gona order correct ones. The ones in now look like a car plug rather than flat type.

The surface gap plugs have rather gone out of fashion. I would have no qualms about QL82YC, L82YC or even the commonly used QL77JC4 or L77JC4
BUHX are the NGK equivalent of UL18V
Just one condition though .. that the standard electrode plugs are not whacked by the piston.

Yes, I just bought my first boat had it for 3 weeks and done 3 trips on the Thames. It’s an old Shetland with a 20hp outboard.
I looked at the plugs there is no sign of damage and no banging noise, so they must be clear of the pistons. I removed the plugs 1 had black wet oil appearance and I cleaned both and it seemed to run a lot better.
I don’t know anything about plugs but the manual states buhx or UL18V and I assumed they would be better. But the engine runs ok on the ones in it. It’s a bit rough on idle and sounds a bit rich. On high revs going faster it sounds a lot better and purrs. It seems to be happy going faster and rough going slow. I heard the 2 strokes behave like this.
Should I leave it alone or are there better plugs for this?

I looked at the plug and it’s black and oily and that’s a sign of too much oil in the fuel. I did mix what the manual states 2% (400ml to 20 litres of fuel). But I wonder what’s the difference now that the fuel is unleaded and the oil I use is Yamaha YAMALUBE 2-M SUPER 2-STROKE ENGINE OIL TC-W3 RL. It seems like I need to reduce the oil. So how much would anyone recommend?
Also would adjusting the jets help by making it a bit leaner, is this an alternative as someone on the river said it sounds a bit rich?

Also L82YC, A little bit cheaper and you do not need the inductively suppressed "Q" type plugs,
Do not use less than 2% oil (50:1) A TCW-3 oil is the oil to use.
Worth adjusting the jets if you have the instructions.
If it has a low speed mixture lean it out at the lowest possible revs until it starts to show signs of being too weak. Then enrich it again slowly until it runs evenly.
Do the same for the high speed mixture . The the snag is you have to do it at full throttle .
