Spark erosion

Excellent news H, so you've finally got 'em in stock. Righty ho, I'll send the cheque off. Only didn't want you acting like the rest of the marine industry. You know taking the money, bunging it in a high interest account, then despatching the goods a couple or three months later. Meanwhile I've lost all the interest on the money. I mean come on £17 on deposit over a couple of months at current LIBOR rates must be what? Close to probably 7 or 8p by now.

Presumably the shirt comes with a bottle of Solly as a free gift too then?

And I want a really bloody big one. None of your poncy "one size fits all" stuff. This has gotta be BIG, otherwise sending it straight back and demanding a full refund. Plus compensation for "injured feelings". Or it's Annne Robinson and Watchdog for you.

And take it off the freezer or it'll shrink in the cold. Bit like Byron's willy.

It sounds like it's possible to get a drill in there....on motorcycles we used to just drill out broken studs/bolts to a little smaller than the thread (tapping size, say) & then clean up with a tap...didn't normally require an insert...and was nearly always in aluminium castings w/o much meat around the hole - tho' if anything left sticking out, try heat first....but it needs to get very, very hot- if it doesn't go "ping", it won't budge.

it does work -advice is from 25yrs motorcycle work....but WW or coke sounds well worth trying

Might be to late now depending on what you have already done to broken bolt but Snap on make some exceptional extractors for this type of problem I've had a set for the last twenty years and have rarely been unable to extract the broken bolt.

It consists of a drill guide to centralise the hole in the broken bolt, a set of drills, some hardened splines and nuts that slide over the splines.

The process is fairly straight forward drill the bolt through the center, beat one of the hardened splines into the hole, then slide one of the special nuts onto the spline which then gives you a solid fixing to remove the broken stud.

The heat from the drilling combined with some WD40 or similar will all help to loosen the hold of the thread.

Ive found them to be much better than the traditional easyouts, if your interested let me know and I'll find the part no for you.
