stranded at home, decided to have a go at restoring one of the 5 diaphragm bilge pumps I acquired with MiToS.

4 are identical and smallish (and I'll eventually make a couple out of the 4 of them!), one is massive and well built and (I guess) rather old:

looks quite like a Jabsco http://www.westmarine.com/electric-...-pumps-5-5gpm-12-volt-10-amp-3-4-port--109944

Now, all's fine, motor works, seals ok, new screws are here to fit, BUT there's a pinhole in the rubber on one of the two "valves" I could go silly and remove the rivet, cut another piece of round rubber and refit, but since rubber's quite tired and hard, I would rather get a seal set or at least two full valves for it (especially if the 350USD price is not a typo...)

Diameter of the rubber seal of the valve is 46.5mm

Any ideas?

cheers

this sort of spares kit ?

Do you have any part numbers or model ID ?

bloody hell!
60odd quid for a repair set???

no sticker on it, couldn't find any stamped codes on the body anywhere.
Does look very much like it though.
Unless I know for sure the dia of the valve, I'll go the rivet route I think ;)
Will email them and see if they can provide dimensions, thanks SB!

Didn't other such co do similar ones with an oval membrane? couldn't find whale for example having one, nor the other main contenders...

cheers

Quick update, the only chandlery in Volos had them in stock.
Two valves 38euro. Also has the membrane as a separate part.
Bought the valves, so the quest is over. And btw, it is a jabsco.

Cheers

thanks :)

38euro and 2euro for the missing ss M6 screws holding it together. When I found the pump in a filthy box in the bilges (together with the original steering ram - which I also restored...) there were two hose clamps holding the whole thing together
plus just under two hours cleaning the thing, scraping old paint off it, now looks like this:

I now have the code for the valves and the probably model # of the pump:

not in showroom condition, but neither are the bilges :p
by the w/e I should know if it's OK

BTW, also got two more working out of the lot of 4. Got one burnt motor, one fcked up pump assembly and one cam missing bits. Unfortunately axle dia and setup is different so I cannot get a third one out of the lot.

So two immersibles:
a 500gph rule
a 750gph sahara

3 3/4inch diaphragm ones
1 1.5inch diaphragm on a manifold (manual setup)
1 backup gulper 220

should be enough, or shall I get a few more just in case?
(not counting the grey water gulper220 and the black water 1.5inch...)

cheers

if you put the delivery hoses for that lot pointing out of the transom, you won't need an engine ;)

nice one, had me LOL :D

(three on the transom and one on port side, plus 2 spares...)
Only serious downside is that I'll need some fairly large holes for the water to get to my pump to produce the thrust. I sincerely hope the rebuilt of the hull isn't that bad...
