Spanish fees

Hello,
Has anyone got up to date information as to what charges are made for Spanish waters, lots of stories about lighthouse tax etc and for anchoring off, any facts welcome as to the true situation. I refer to visiting boats, will be on my way West to the Canaries, via Balearic's and Spanish mainland, and heard rumors re fees now being charged.

We came along the N Spanish coast and then the Atlantic coast last summer. Never charged to anchor & never a mention of any light dues.
 
Not sure where your "rumours" come from. You asked the same question elsewhere and got the same answers as you are getting here.
 
Perhaps he was referring to some of the Majorcan Calas - where you are no longer permitted to anchor but are led to a mooring buoy and charged.

Over the past couple of weeks entered Andalusian (Spanish) Junta Marinas & anchored off. Spanish marine authorities were around but no mention of any taxes or charges beyond the normal marina dues.

Additionally, have not heard of any other boats being charged.

Yes i am, was recommended to ask here rather than the main forum, many thanks to all who replied to me, would seem to be a rumour but was from what is usually a reliable source.

I have been boarded in San Miguel, Tenerife by customs. They just wanted to fill in a form about the boat and crew. I have been told that the HM of Santa Cruz, La Palma may demand light dues (a few euros).

I am regularly in the Canaries as my other half works here, the rumors do have a basis........ quick guide is as follows:

Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) and Santa Cruz (Tenerife) both have a lighthouse tax but very different charging methods. A 1 night stay in Las palmas will have a months light house dues attached. So if you stay for the month ok otherwise a bit expensive, however the marina fees are very low approx 0.25cents per square meter. Other Marinas eg Gran Tarajal (fuerteventura) are v cheap also approx 0.25cents pm2 with no additional costs.

Most of the private marinas have increased their prices significantly last year. Rubicon (lanzarote) being one of the worst examples approx 50% increase in the overnight rate.

As to anchoring there are quite a few reasonable possibilities in most of the islands and there is no charge in most situations.

Everybody's been complaining about the terrible weather in the Med, what's it been like over the winter and spring in the Canaries?

Weather here has been strange as it changes from cloudy to sunny on a very iregular basis, however it's still tshirt and shorts weather the temp being in the mid 20s
