Spall's at Sea, New series, Tonight 20.30

I think the free advertising/new photo on the wall will generate more trade, that will more than cover the price of the meal, not to mention the good jesture of money donated to the RNLI, everyone's a winner.

Probably being a bit nieve here but why is it being screened on BBC4 ?, did the first series not do too well with the ratings?, from the general conversations about the last series it was popular to non boating types too and I have to agree the show has a somewhat addictive quality which is hard to explain.

Not so much about the ports of call this episode, just a quick glimpse and it's on to the next destination, guess it's difficult as so many shows (coast etc) do the same kind of tour but without the humour, personally I cant wait to tune in for the next episode.

Wonder why they left Swansea on the editing floor:eek:

Don't know, but when they came up the Menai Strait and overnighted at PD, the camera crew were on a holiday so none of it was filmed. That's why they're jumping straight to Liverpool for the next episode. Pity really, he did a good job through the Swellies.

Mind you, I hope they don't claim to have gone all around Britain, they missed Anglesey out.

Ok, the jump to Liverpool did confuse me somewhat and missing a lot of Wales out is a bit of a mistake if you ask me.

Hactually 'stood by' as they went through the Swellies
We wus on a trainin thing there anyway!!
Shouted across
'GLAD YER AINT GO NO CAMERAS AN THAT'
'WE DONT WANT NO FURINNERS'!
Then played a few bars of Duelin banjos;)

As I recall, your goodself, the Binman and me circled 'em a few times in a little flying machine off Menai Bridge.

Didn't quite understand why they were making so much about finding the entrance as the light fell, when they have GPS and electronic charting..

When its your home turf and your mooring, your car and home is all there waiting exactly where you left it !

When its getting dark ,your a bit tired and apprehensive at the end of a rather long and stressful day,you have to work out just how to get into the harbour and then find your mooring, plus there was that rather funny noise you heard coming from the engine earlier on ?.

The series must have been filmed a while ago 'cos the "Princess Matilda" lay over in Pwelly for a couple of months during 2010 - I know 'cos I saw it when I was scrubbing my bottom last year.

Disappointed that they effectively jumped from Aberystwyth to Port Dinllaen without sampling the exotic delights of Porthmadog - the jewel of the Llyn Peninsula!

I was also disappointed they missed out Swansea with its marina right next to a large unspoilt beach.I spent many summers there comming for three months from the River Severn where I used keep my boat for the winter.Sadly a run of bad weather and lack of many places to visit for week end cruises forced me to move to the Solent, something I have never regretted, but it still holds happy memories of trips to Saundersfoot and Ilfracoombe and it was my first real sea boating experiances despite its 10 meter tides.

Enjoyed that, couldn't understand a word but it was well done I thought

Potentially a very good prog but badly let down by the monotonic scriptreader of a voiceover. As a local it was mostly factually accurate for a change.

Had a quick look but it does not seem to be available on the 'net. Hope I'm wrong.

Suprised at the slagging this has been getting on the raggies forum and to a lesser extent over here.It is just the simple story of a bloke with not much coastal experience going from A-B without having MUSTO or RAYBAN or FAIRSEEKERESS visiable in every blimming bikini clad shot.
Found it very useful in showing that coastline and perhaps making me want to visit .Much nicer that that dull dull brown boring and overcrowded coastline down in the Med esp France.
Locals whinging about how it missed this and that :),reminds me of the Thames Mafia bleating on about how the first Three men on a Boat failed to show the best aspects of ...and how come they missed ..... etc etc.
Stop moaning.
