Spall 'lost' in the Medway

Though the RNLI are a wonderful, and superbly run organisation, they do have their own agenda, albeit one that is dedicated to keeping people safe. The statement from the lifeboat people sort of implied that the Spalls were saved from some terrible fate (though carefully phrased) in running aground on the Medway mud in a flat bottomed 40 something foot barge, which would be inconvenient but not dangerous and would not put anyone else into any danger. Not really a story at all - as others have pointed out.

I agree with your comment Firefly but the fact that the RNLI were seen to save the Spalls from a watery grave has probably convinced a rich old lady somewhere to buy a new lifeboat rather than give her money to the cats protection league and for that we should all be glad.

But no one has bothered to thank the Coastguard Centre who coordinated the incident.

We don't know whether the Spalls have or have not thanked the Coastguard Centre unless you have inside information. What we do know is that the Spalls have through their Twitter site and their blog urged people to sign up against the coastguard cuts and have signed up themselves.
