SPAL Fan

The heating matrix blower fan on my Eberspacher D5W system has started to make noises like a stuck pig, I suspect it's life on this earth is nearly over. It's a SPAL Type 008-A37 42D 12v .. does anyone know where I could find a replacement?

Not sure but I think you can lubricate the bearings on the D5, have a look at the manual. I know you can on the bigger model.

Thanks Colin, unfortunately it's not the D5W unit that is making all the noise, the D5W heats a water filled matrix and then the SPAL fan blows over it and down the trunking. The fan is completely separate unit.

Sorry, thought it was an "L". Any fan type motor should do? maybe one from a car?

Umm, what size is it, my TR7 runs a SPAL fan, but a 16inch one.

Hurrah! have located supplier and new fan is on order, friendly supplier also indicated way of stopping squeaking noise which sounds a lot better than beating offending fan with hammer which was my preferred solution. For those who are interested supplier was located after prolonged trawl through sites dealing with "Custard Cars" eventually found in an MR2 (whatever that is) discussion list.
