I'm considering driving back to the boat in July instead of flying. We'll have 2-3 people, their personal gear and assorted boat bits. It's school hols so flights are at peak cost (£200 or so - we have been paying around £30 before!), then there's airport transfers, checked baggage and the trauma of negotiating public transport timetables.

So what about driving? It's about 1200miles so diesel costs in my car would be about £150 door to door. Tolls etc around £40? Ferry Dover Calais £50 if MyFerryLink are still going....... but what to do with the car on arrival is the problem. I'd need to park it for six or seven weeks. It isn't particularly valuable and I wouldn't be bothered if it got nicked. I'd drive it back at the beginning of Sept. In the UK I would just find a quiet street and leave it, but in Spain...?

I did think about offering to move someone else's car/van/truck to Spain but don't know how to go about offering my services as a delivery driver!

Suggestions about parking and any other solutions are welcome.

If i remember right the marina in Vivero has a fair patch for car parking that seems reasonably secure!...if yer boats there now then just leave it there!

I would say that six or seven weeks would be ok to park on a street. The police do put signs on cars that they think are abandoned, before towing them away, but you should be ok for that length of time. The alternative is to find private parking somewhere - maybe ask in a hotel or restaurant or if you really want to, or look out for signs on garage doors offering "cochera" or "garaje" for rent and rent a space for two months.
