Southwold to Roompot

Having spent a few hours looking at 2017 chart C30 combined with Navionics and knowledge gleaned from A forumitebased here, has anyone crossed Sthwld/Lowestoft to Roompot this year?
After passing Nth of the Inner and Outer Gabbard then crossing the Nth Hinder South Looks like one giant wndfarm sprawling to Walcheren. The chart shows Wind Farm Borselle all over from Nth Hinder Jnctn to the Schouewen Junction!
Any thoughts welcome.

My path was further North.
Just looked at my track on the ipad and we went pretty straight to Euro-W bouy at 51.54.703N 002.43.598E
and then a straight line to the west Roompot channel over middlebank.

So simple route was
southwold - 122 true to Euro W bouy (46nm)
Euro-W 116 true to Roompot channel (39nm)

You miss all the wind farms that way.

It's the triangular wedge nth wards that seems to be sprawling.
All good learning! Crew now back in country down tomorrow then a window hopefully appears to get across!
Same old problem - theee weather sources all conflicting!
 
Borssele windfarm hasn't been built yet. We came across from Roompot to Harwich last week and there's nothing there.
We rather pedantically followed the passage marked on the new Imray chart, but I'm not sure anyone would have been too worried if we'd strayed off the route.
 
Thanks Steve, I assume that following the Brussele wind farm passage routed you south of the Middlebank and Steenbank for an approach to Roompot via the buoyed unlit channel? Looks like I could pick up the transit NS79 from a little further Nth than your route as I am departing Sthwld.

Flicking through that web site to which I referred, I note that many have been cancelled or refused and quite a few like Borssele are still quite early such as shown as 'Consent Authorised' - which I assume means that 'Consent' may now be applied(?). The difficulty is to get the simple status of all the sites in an overview is subject to subscription.
 
We have recently been Lowestoft to Ijmuiden and Stellendam to Harwich.
There is a wind farm just south of Ijmuiden.
The only ones we saw on the return leg were on the UK side.

I don't have the chart to hand at the moment and we were going the other way. From Roompot we followed the channel out to the WG-GB cardinal and then straight across to the wind farm passage, crossing over the two banks. It was fairly calm with about 1m swell - slightly bumpier over the banks but plenty of water. I've posted my track on http://www.gpsies.com/ (see also thread Dutch Adventure).

From Southwold I should think you'd go north of the Gabbard windfarms across to the North Hinder Junction precautionary zone and then into the wind farm passage.

Many thanks to all for info. We left Sthwld at 2200 and arrived in the Roompot at 1300 with 90nm on the log.
Started with no wind then pretty much wind not much granted from all points until we started the Nth Hinder crossing. Picking up to a Bft 5 as we entered the the Borssele Wind Farm Passage.
A fab sail across the banks with sun all day. Blowing hard now so glad to be here.
Had several comm's with shipping and all aimiable mostly happy for us to continue speed and course. All except for a guard vessel sat smack in the Borssele Passage who didn't want to talk.
Couldn't quite get my head around the size of the Gabbard wind farm, seeing for miles before then transiting Nth of it only to be seeing it in your wake for hours was a tad demoralising.
Spent a while trying to work out one set of lights as it turned out to be two tugs towing offshore platform. Looked like one ais return until zoomed in revealing all.
So now a tour of the Osterschelde and Grevelngen before bashing back across home.

Glad you made it over ok.
We're heading for Ijmuiden on Sunday and will travel south on one of the mast up routes.

Talking of which has anyone got any tips on which route to take after Amsterdam and where to stop off?
 
I would head for the new Amsterdam marina, if only for the baths with views over the place. Then head on the night convoy, but just be aware that you will end up in a lagoon, in the dark, having lost your night vision. most people head straight out but there is a great wooded island with pool etc so worth waiting for a later bridge opening.

After the bridge there is a good sailing club on an island with a ferry to the mainland. We had an amusing evening with the locals in their bar with lots of miming and beer. It wasn't until much later in the evening when a member, who spoke English turned up, they asked us where in Australia we were from (we had the blue CA ensign on)! They seemed a bit disappointed we were only from the uk!!


I would then recommend Kaag lakes, there is a good sailing club and loads of places to anchor.

We did the Haarlem route in the day rather than night route.
As it was a Sunday, we only got as far as the lock at Krimpen a/d Ijssel, which was then closed until the next day.
Haarlem looked like a great place to stop.
We didn't go via the Kaag due to depth concerns but went to port and via Oude Wettering etc
