Anybody here planning on attending any of the summer events with the OGA - Southwold Festival, Brightlingsea, East Coast Classics?

I think we'll be attending Southwold and the Classics (Suffolk bits) in Crystal, who is old enough to qualify despite being bermudian. There don't seem to be too many details yet on the website about the ECC.

Last year about 15 Bermudian yachts took part in the Classics and around twenty five Gaffers . All shapes and sizes, good fun was had by all. Some details are on the OGA local area website --- http://www.eastcoastclassics.co.uk. On the site are last years details/ results. The Eastcoaster is the local area news letter. Join the OGA its very cheap and a good bunch of like minded people.

Yes, you jolly well ought to. Despatch cheque forthwith or we'll put Deva onto you. See you at Brightlingsea and possibly elsewhere.

I've already had Deva onto me - or actually it was Maryl (sic?) at last years classics, although I was aboard a different vessel.

I enjoyed my previous experiences with the OGA, I will get around to sending off my cheque this week, and registering for the classics as well. We had a brief visit from James Lawrence sailmakers this week, who, having inspected the rig, said "What will she do, about eight knots?" which was a lot more than I'd expected, so I'm a bit more confident about the racing now!!

See you there, then...

I hope to be there again, and I understand that Adnams are going to brew a special called "gaffer" for the event!

So I understand, which will be an extremely good reason to be there, as if there weren't enough others. They were very generous with their prizes last year, I seem to recall some vessels being balanced using the 35-pint bags of Bitter they were giving out!!
