Just been offered a mooring here, but have to admit I know nothing about it.

Does anyone have any experience or advice, i.e. road access, tidal access, security, facilities etc.

I can't even find a web site

Thanks
Neil

it behind where the red jet is berthed, quite a neat turn in to the marina from the water, I believe 24 hr access, there is parking for berth holders and quite a strong community in there, couple good places to eat on the quay and easy access to central Southampton,

In regards to access, It's about 15 minutes from the M27 ( J3 i think) or you can come down through Southampton city itself. By Sea, i'd say it's about 10-15 minutes up Southampton Water to get into the Solent.

Last time I used it there was hardlyt any parking available, ferry wash all teh time (very uncomfortable). Kept a 30 feet Yacht there for two years and got through a heap load of mooring lines.... Restaurant really close (La Margherittas, I think) but it can get very, very, very noisy on Fridays and Saturdays!

All IMHO

We berthed there for 3 seasons a few years ago. Back then the ferry wash was really bad although I hear they've been told to slow down earlier now. You need mooring lines with decent snubbers if you want to protect your gel coat. Also when we were there we regularly lost fenders and found them on nearby charter sailing boats which was extremely irritating. I dunno whether it's different now but parking on the Quay for bertholders was difficult. Other than that, it was'nt a bad place and very convenient for the myriad fleshpots of downtown Southampton

Have to agree about the constant wash, also some of the berths are very narrow combined with some very tight turns into the channels so you need to pick your mooring carefully!
