Hi, anyone have any recommendations for the above please? We’ve been let down by our current guy, and he’s gone into hiding.
At the moment it‘s just for regular maintenance and de/winterisation etc, and hoping it stays that way!
Cheers

I suspect I know who you might mean. I was "let down" by a Southampton Mercruiser "specialist" who then went into hiding. I think there may be other customers in the same situation.

I turned to JJB Marine. They are in Exmouth - I know - a long, long way away, but their guy came up to Southampton frequently. I don't know if that's still the case, but their work on my Mercruiser was superb. Really honest, in the sense that getting the service right was a matter of pride and honour for them - not just a question of turning a quick bob or two. 01395 227914. May be worth a call.

Thanks Andrew, yes I suspect so, the one with 2.3 stars on google reviews! Been in touch with Motive Marine at Shamrock Quay who sound very professional.

Really . I carried out a pre purchase inspection and sea trial on a boat this company had charged thousands for on work , some of the faults I found were according to the invoices shown had been rectified. Both engines had major faults , smoked really badly , air filters blocked , needed my wellingtons as there was gallons of oil in the bilges left by whoever worked on it .
no oil pressure on port engine , low coolant levels , absolutely no oil in starboard gearbox while slipped on sea trial we had to turn back .
cyber Bashing on Google review is one of the reasons I have no website or FB page , social media can be the death of a good company just because they are busy with other clients..
I have always worked on an appointment system , you ask me and I book you in for that day , you get me on that day , I know where I am and so does my client .
So unless you booked your engineer with it confirmed by email etc don’t go google bashing it’s pointless and fake feedback.

Cyber bashing, isn’t that exactly what you have just done above??
FYI, and not sure why I should need to explain myself, I have not left any reviews for anyone.
I’m also pleased to hear you have an efficient appointments system, not everyone does.

I really think it's a shame when "reviews" like the above appear, commenting about another company in the same business. Far worse than if negative comments come from Joe public. I have not used Motive Marine nor Volvopaul but the amount of feedback about Volvopaul's work clearly demonstrates that he's one of the good guys. So there's no need for the knocking of competitors, Volvopaul - you obviously deserve to do well on your own merits.
