Caroldevon of that ilk, has suggested we peninsular types might get together for a bit of brumal cheer.

Does Plymouth sound like a central enough location ?

I think that's a great idea.

I PM'ed Carol to tell her I had a couple of venues set up for a SW meet in Dec but I personally have been unable to finalise anything 'cos of all the other stuff going on (kids! schools! work!!!).

Something in the New Year is a better option. We're ok with Plymouth but are now happy we can arrange something around J22 M5 at some point in the future if anyone is up for it.

Ooo! I'm sure Paul and I could be tempted to celebrate our heritage! Not heard of any Burns Suppers running locally yet - the Brasserie (as was ) in Mayflower Marina used to do one, but I've not heard of the new owners having any plans.

If we could do it on the night of the 24th, then I would probably be up as well......

I'm sorry to hear that... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I would be up for it, I need to come down for the mid winter checkup.... I would prefer Saturday night...... If we can get a gang together then I will stay down and book a room.....

I'm up for it though the long trek round to Mountbatten doesn't appeal. I like the idea of somewhere close to the A38. Pity whisky tasting and driving don't mix.

For me something in the Barbican/City center would be better as well...... closer to a cheap hotel...

OK, taking the bull by the horns.....

Rocky's in the Barbican.....

Casual Italian/Grill ....

Rockys...

Ate there last summer, seemed pretty good, did a good Veggie spread for swmbo, reasonable prices....

Clean, modern.....

Any objections?

I'm up for it too... Barbican would be good. I'm sure I can "persuade" Goosewing as well.

Also willing to offer a couple of bunks on Wild Bird.... although it would have to be in the "lounge" as Goosewing and I have the two cabins...

So thats grub in the barbican followed by drinks on board!

Sounds good to me!

Were are you moored?

Ok gang, sounds like we have at least 7/8 up for it... Anne has coincidentally a table for 8 booked at what sounds like a nice pub in Plympton with open fire etc, and it sounds like she can add to this number as well..... This is a Burns night Celebration!!

Which sounds great to me...

Anne will let us know costs and times etc......

So, can peeps confirm if they would be up for that??

I suspect it would be good if we can get a feel for numbers for that.... or if peeps would prefer a central location...

Kioni has also suggested a nice Chinese in the Barbican as well.....

my inclination is the Burns night, which was the original idea... location is not far off the A38 by the sounds of things, and there are a couple of hotels at the jctn of the A38 as well.....

So here is a little poll....

The Union Inn option is 7.30 for 8pm, £15.95 per person for full Burns night menu (cockaleekie soup, haggis neeps and tatties, steak and dessert. I'm deperately trying to find a piper for the evening too. Not sure if there will be any poetry recitals (Paul and I will duck and hide at that point in the proceedings).

We won't be able to make a Barbican night - we've badgered our landlord to hold this so don't want to miss it.

One last thing - the pub is 2 mins drive from the Sainsburys roundabout on the A38. There is accommodations next to the roundabout if needed.
