I am looking for a new marina to berth my 40ft mono. Does anyone have any experence of annual South Coast costs verses Brittany?

Costs: Google is your friend. Most Brittany marinas have their rates on-line.
Before you get starry-eyed: almost all have (long) waiting lists.
We're on 4 waiting lists in Brittany: average wait for a mooring is 4 years & 6 years for a pontoon berth.

I bought my boat last year and got an (unserviced) pontoon berth on the Vilaine immediately. This year, for a 35' boat, it is £1200 which includes a Passeport Escales.
I think you will struggle to match that deal on the south coast.

How many nights Passeport did you get? I paid €10 for 5 nights last year, this year it's €20. Still a bargain but percentage-wise not easy to understand.

I can stay for 2 consecutive nights up to a max of 5 nights pa in any of 70 ports (not all marinas) and can stay for 2 consecutive nights as often as I like in any of the Sagemor marinas. Price as last year - £280 above standard cost of berth.
Yes. Wasn't my first choice but now I know the area I wouldn't move even if the opportunity arose.

Where do you live?

I looked into this a couple of years ago and came to the conclusion that given the cost of ferrys and petrol the costings came out roughly equal, but without the possibility of just popping down to the boat.

Staying in UK got the nod.

We kept our previous boat in Ostend for a year.
It did cost us about the same as an East Coast pontoon berth when ferries & fuel were taken into account.
Like you said - just popping down to the boat was out of the question.

Now started looking for a berth in Brittany as we will be moving there permanently in a few years.

Would be a bit of a drive for us (from S Finisterre).
Looking to park the boat within a30 mins drive radius.

Yes, not much good for day or weekend sailing with the lock and river passage, even if the drive was acceptable. I have a 700 mile drive and go for a week minimum, so not such a problem and there are good boating facilities and shelter.
