I'm starting the annual South Coast cruise from Brighton this weekend and heading towards Falmouth. Where would forumites recommend to buy diesel around the Solent, Dartmouth, Falmouth & Poole?

Have checked the Fuel forum but there's no up to date info.

Any assistance appreciated

Try Lymington. The Yacht Haven is about £1.05 per litre (from memory) at the moment. Good mid way point from Brighton.

I believe Poole to be a bit prohibitive for cheap diesel.

Lymington yacht haven good price, so is barge in Dartmouth, try and avoid buying any from Falmouth as is allways quite a bit dearer than the others.

As you are leaving from Brighton then guess you are a Premier berth holder, if you are then you will get about 5p a ltr off at other Premier marinas, not sure of the exact amount. Gosport would be your best port of call as it is not far off of the Solent.

However, if you we stopping over night there are also Premier marinas at Chichester or Southsea and up the Hamble at Swanwick.

Last one heading West is Falmouth.

Think Gosport had a sign up last weekend about 107p, less your discount of course.

Blimey, things must have changed this year then. Dartmouth (and Salcombe) barges were the most expensive places I've bought fuel in the SW. Certainly Brixham and Plymouth marinas have been considerably cheaper over the last 5-6yrs atleast.

I agree, Dartmouth and Salcombe have same ownership and have always been very expensive in the past.

Premier (Port Solent) but I'm guessing Gosport will be the same was £1.07 60:40 for berthholders last weekend. Beware fuel at Premier Chichester as is classed as inland and thus low sulphur.

Good luck! Given the weather, it may turn into"'the annual sitting around in Brighton Marina wondering if the weather will break..."

I had a trip planned from Southampton down to Plymouth and back this week just gone, didnt really get out of the Solent because of the crxxpy weather!! and it doesnt look to improve much.

Cowes fuel barge was 79ppl (lowest rate) and Lymington was the same price as of yesterday morning when I passed on my return back to Hamble, I had had enough by Friday!

According to Cowes FB theirs is the low sulphur content fuel and does not have the bio content.
