South coast chandlery

The only sure fire bit of advice I would give you is don't shop piecemeal. No matter what you might occasionally read here margins are not great so trying to get extra money off your £200 order is going to be a tough call, but getting a global discount off your £3,000+ order most will work hard for.

Someone suggested sending a list round, I'm sure that's your best way.

Seateach is pretty good, but best of all is Hardway Marine in Gosport. Luke will ALWAYS beat all mail order prices. If you are spending more than a couple of hundred quid, he'll do a great deal.

For example - 4 man valise liferaft lowest published price £530 - £499
XM self inflating danbuoy published £99, - £75 from Hardway

You need to call in and build a relationship, then Luke will look after you.

Service is great too.

Really agree about creatinga list of thebest prices you can get for all you want (via internet, catalogues etc) and taking that to one place. I did it for an excellent discount.

A plug though for the independent chandler, like One Stop in Essex, who will often think of the creative and better (sometimes cheaper) solutions and will stick by you for the harder stuff - and in general I believe in supporting the smaller independents anyway.
