South coast blast - 6 minutes you'll never get back...

I'll be creating a YouTube channel and blog for the trip south, very much looking forward to having time to be a little more creative. Very excited about Portugal generally and we are currently scheduling the plan so as to have a month around Porto and the Douro before we tie up in PM marina in September

Look forward to reading about your trip ,good luck ,

Thanks for sharing Nigel. Looks like you made the very best of the summer. It would appear that we were in many of the same places as you, even at the Elton John show at the Eden project (?) That was one of our favourite nights of the summer. We were moored in Fowey and got a cab to the Concert. Our paths must have crossed a number of times.
Good luck with the trip South.

We were lucky to get a couple of corporates for the EJ sessions concert, were there on the first night' it's a tereffic venue. Trust that you had a great trip west; did you get down to Falmouth in the end? I'm sure you loved Fowey....

We were there on the first night too. Also did the pre-concert champagne and dinner thing. We invited family down and had a cracking night. Just wished I had got in touch with you beforehand....
As you said... I would recommend the Eden project as a venue if an act you like plays there. Better still if you do the dinner beforehand. It was notable for decent food and for being very generous with the champagne. It was a perfect evening, helped in no small part by the sunshine... one of few such evenings I remember from 2015! Fowey was as wonderful as ever, we were even escorted to the harbour tender pontoon by 'Clet' the bottlenose dolphin.

Well we were in the same room then! The food was good, we were so impressed that we are now using the Gallery for our anual Client bash...

We will definitely go again and are looking out for the 2016 concert programme to be published.
Yes we did get to Falmouth. Another fantastic weekend. We came down for the Sea Shanty Festival. Great fun. We ended up in Mylor. Everything in town was busy with the classic yachts. In hindsight the Fowey and Falmouth trips were the highlights of our year.... the weather wasn't too bad and if things had continued like that we probably wouldn't be loading CLOUD9 onto the first ship South!

We feel exactly the same way, if the weather were better we would say here with the boat and winter abroad. We've been boating in Cornwall for so long now and never tire of it. But it's just too expensive a lifestyle to be stymied by wind and cold for a couple hundred days a year.

Is taking her down on her own bottom an option, hurricanes thread is what inspired us to plan this, albeit a little more slowly than he did it?

Yes, we did discuss it.... I was keen and would look forward to the adventure. I am a little envious of you making the trip.

However, wife is relatively new to boating, (luckily for me, (or her!) she has taken to it really well). She loves the boat but long distance passage-making isn't really her thing, so the conclusion was that, having made the decision to go, we should get the thing dangling from a Mallorcan dock as soon as humanly possible. So the ship is booked for mid-February.

Ive not been paying attention, I didn't know that you were planning an escape too. Hope all goes well. I will now take a look at old threads to see where you are heading..
