South Brittany Regattas

Happily retired, we spend our summers cruising south Brittany and the Vendee. Unhappily we often arrive at ports to find that entry is denied because a regatta is underway or about to arrive. We diligently scour information posted in Capitaineries to find out whether a proposed destination is viable. But it would be very useful for passage planning to find a central point of information about such regattas. Hours scouring the internet has not revealed anything....but perhaps I am not asking the right question.
Does anyone know of a helpful resource?

If you have subscribed for Reeds updates, the May 2013 edition has information on regatta dates for various South Brittany ports on page 6 of the pdf (for the Main Almanac) under Area 21 South Brittany.

Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you google: "Programme de regates en Bretagne du sud" and you will have lots of answers.

I too am retired and my boat is based at Locmiquélic (Lorient) but I have to say that I have never worried about marina availability. There are usually lots of choices/alternatives.

Thanks to everyone for these responses. Guapa's hot link to Bretagne-info-nautism was very helpful, thanks.
And our own further searches turned up the Passport Escales' Agenda (Calendar) of activities in all their associated ports - which others might find helpful:
http://www.passeportescales.com/en/agenda#year=2013.
And would absolutely agree with Sybarite about plenty of availability - Until last June when we were turfed out of harbours on almost a daily basis because a regate was due to arrive...and often found that adjacent ports were closed for the same reason - so thought a tad more planning might be in order this summer.
thanks all

Are you sure that it was incoming regattas that caused your expulsions, may be they were fed up with your riotous behaviour...

So Vara, exactly on what evidence are you basing your observation?

Oh don't be so coy, your cocoa fuelled orgies of self indulgence sometimes going on as late as 9.15pm coupled with aggressive volume of radio 4 long wave are the talk of all capitaineries south of Benodet. :-)

My my we are going to have to start getting up early (0755) to keep up with this repartee non?
Still Groix better brace itself for a cocoa-orgy as that is to-day's destination..... And R4....as they have wi-fi there now.

I remember being in the middle of a raft-up in Port Tudy (Groix) and decided to do a fried breakfast. You should have seen the meerkat reaction!
