This video looks at the leisure side of sailing that is often forgotten when we relate our tales and adventures on the high seas to our sailing buddies.

A week’s charter of a Feeling 36 in July this year, using Trinite Sur Mer as our starting point for a relaxing few days in idyllic ports of call.

Just the two of us having fun on the water and ashore.

Yes - Moriban was lovely.

And as South Brittany was a new sailing area for us it was a case of explore and experience as we jumped from one port to the next. Navigation no more difficult than the Channel Islands – just had to keep clear of the rocks.

If river sailing sounds boring then the passage up to the medieval town of Auray will make you change you mind. Strong tides and shallow depth in places kept us on our toes. But having a lifting keel was our secret weapon and gave us increased access and flexibility over arrival and departure times.

Definitely a laid back place when ashore. No English translation on the restaurant menus. Seafood very cheap. Managed to get through 42 oysters in one week !

The river sailing gets you thinking. George Washington was supposed to land at Vannes when he was over seeking support for the US, but the wind/tide made it necessary to land at Saint Goustan (Auray) instead.

You saw the sailing ship tied up at the top of the port? Well it wasn't that one, but it was of similar size.
