The lip seal at the top of my stern tube is a really strange metric size and I am trying to locate a UK supplier.

As you can see from the photo it's 39mm internal (the rudder stock size), 55.5 mm external (a very strange 0.5 mm sizing) by 9mm, although any lesser thickness would do equally well.

I placed an order for 2 with Bearing Shop for a 39 x 55 x 9 as that was the nearest I could find in the UK but unfortunately they have just refunded my money because this size is out of stock and they are not expecting any more supplies. :(

Does anyone know any sources of unusual lip seal sizes?

Simply bearings have 39 by 55 or 56.

I would suggest measuring the metal bits before ordering. Is the hole closer to 55 or 56?

That's strange because when I looked at simplybearings a few days ago they didn't have 55 or 56 with a 39mm ID.

I'll order the 55 because if it's on the small side I can always use some RTV or similar to secure it. I hate having to drift in seals when they're a tight fit as it's very difficult to keep them square on if they're tight.

Many thanks ...... I'll order two tonight.
