sound signals?

They are in the Port of London Authority regulations:

SOUND SIGNALS on the THAMES

Short I am altering my course to STARBOARD

SS I am altering my course to PORT

SSS I am operating ASTERN propulsion

SSSS S I am turning fully round to STARBOARD

SSSS SS I am turning fully round to PORT

SSSSS I do not understand your intentions; keep clear

(I doubt whether you are taking sufficient action to avoid a collision)

Long I am about to get underway / enter the fairway

or: I am approaching a blind bend

L SS I am unable to manoeuvre (not under command)

LL S I intend to overtake you on your STARBOARD side

LL SS I intend to overtake you on your PORT side

LS LS I agree to be overtaken

Thanks for the views. I use them sparingly, usually limited to turning to port or starboard when exiting or entering the Marian cut and occasionally if I am turning around when there are other boats nearby. It is easy to forget the rest through lack of use and I am sure the one about overtaking is likely to be misinterpreted.
